Ford stick coil mod/retrofit

Hello all,

Well, being the cheap bastard i am, I refuse to pay dealer prices (esp 4 stick coils) on my 10 year old r6 that was destined for the recycle bin anyway.

Long story short...i found some ford coils (used on 3.0 24v ford/merc..taurus escape) that are the same ohm, same connector, w a lil bit longer boot. I found some coils at a junkyard, put new boots/conductors($16 napa), and some autolite 4302 plugs ($8 napa)..You need the "auto" tip screwed onto the plug. I cut a thumbs width off the boot and slathered it in d/e grease. I had to mod(cut) the air box a lil bit due to the size of the coils above the valve cover.

Has anyone else tried this long-term?

It runs great on my porch, but still a few days away from being ridable.

btw- you can get all 4(or 6) coils complete w boots n conductor on ebay all day long for $40. not sure what the zone would charge.
